What's inside
A power supply that converts 120V house current down to 24V DC. A Wi-Fi radio. A microcontroller running the firmware. A surge protector. Terminal blocks for the data and power runs to the track.
All of it sits in a sealed weatherproof enclosure roughly 8x10x3 inches.
Where we mount it
Almost always inside the garage on a wall close to the panel. Power source: a dedicated 15-amp circuit (we add the breaker if needed). Wi-Fi signal: needs decent reception — we test on install day before final mount.
If garage placement isn't possible, exterior mount on a north-facing wall works fine — IP67 enclosure handles it.
What you do with it
Nothing. It sits there for 17+ years. Firmware updates push automatically over Wi-Fi. The only time you touch it is if you change Wi-Fi networks (use the app).
