Govee Permanent Outdoor House Lights are rated IP65 — dust-tight against sand and dry debris, and water-resistant against splashes and rain from any direction. For most Fresno homeowners that envelope is fine: summers are dry, winters bring tule fog and the occasional rain but rarely standing water.
Where IP65 starts to limit use: pool decks where lights sit close to splashing water, patios with permanent sprinkler overspray, and any install location prone to direct hose pressure during seasonal cleaning. The aluminum-track Jellyfish system we install is rated IP67 (submersible to one meter for thirty minutes) which removes those limits entirely.
On temperature: Govee is rated 14F to 122F operating. Fresno summer roof surfaces in direct sun routinely exceed 130F. Most installs are under the eave in shade, so this rarely surfaces — but it is the kind of edge case where pro-rated -40F to 140F hardware earns its keep over decades.
Bottom line for outdoor use: Govee is genuinely competent in most Fresno conditions. The pro upgrade matters when you want to never think about it again.
