Where the cost comes from
Roughly 35% hardware (track + LEDs + controller). 50% labor. 15% overhead, warranty reserve, financing cost, and margin.
Hardware has been roughly flat for three years — the chips are mature, the manufacturers are stable. Labor in the Central Valley has gone up 4-7% per year.
What that means for you
A $2,800 install today is roughly $3,000-$3,150 at the same scope in 2027. That's also $1,200-$2,400 in seasonal-installer fees you paid in the meantime if that was your alternative.
There's no version of waiting that comes out ahead unless you simply don't want the system at all.
When it's smart to wait
You're not sure you want it and you're not currently paying for seasonal hangs. Wait — your situation might change. We'll be here. The price will be slightly higher; you might decide you don't want it after all and save more.
